Goma Takana (Leaf Mustard) per kg
The Goma Takana (scientific name: Brassica juncea var. integlifolia) is a biennial grass belonging to brassica family, and a variety of Brassica juncea. It grows approximately 20 to 60 cm in length. The Komatsuna and katsuona are known as its related vegetables. It is grown widely in western Japan.
Due to its sweet flavour, with a slight spicy note, this is the only Japanese Takana which can be eaten raw: all other ecotypes have a sour flavour and need to be transformed.
You can eat it hot or cold, alone or as okazu (a small side dish accompanying rice), as topping for ramen or okayu (rice porridge), or as part of a veggie stir-fry
