A marine univalve mollusc known as a greenlip abalone has an oval, flat, smooth shell that is pale in colour and has a huge, muscular foot with a brilliant green lip or frill. This powerful foot is widely prized for consumption. It is highly regarded worldwide for its flavour, which combines sweetness, salt, and umami.
Greenlip abalone is low in oil, with a medium flavour and moisture. Omega 3 and protein are abundant in abalone, which also has a low saturated fat content. Trans fats are absent from abalone as well.
