Blue mussels have a distinctly rich, sweet taste, similar to a blend of oysters and clams, despite being smaller than green-lipped mussels. The ideal way to prepare these mussels is to steam them in water, wine, or cream broth with herbs and garlic. Mussel meats could be served cold and mildly marinated in mayonnaise, mustard, and garlic sauce, or cooked mussel meats could be used in pasta salads or served as an appetizer.
